Toledo's women's track and field team finished in fifth place at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Bowling Green today. The Rockets earned 55 points through two days of competition. 'We faced a lot of adversity this weekend and I'm very proud of the way the women responded today,' head coach Linh Nguyen said following the meet.

'Shanice, Atalia, and Karoline really got the momentum going for us, and the rest of the team fed off that energy—especially the three newcomers. 'The meet was extremely tight and the last two events secured a top-five finish for us.

Welsh and junior Jennifer Lichter cracked the top eight in the 5,000 meters. Welsh earned fifth with a time of 16:50.55 while Lichter was seventh with a time of 16:59.44. Lichter's time was a new season best. Next was Simiuc in the 800-meter where she finished sixth with a time of 2:14.92 to earn a second podium finish on the day.

Toledo earned sixth in the 4x400 medley relay with a time of 3:50.45 thanks to the team of junior Nautica Hill, sophomore Yana Khabina, junior Christina Johnson and Da Silva. UT's final podium finishers were freshman Michelle Hostettler, Da Silva, junior Olivia Chinn and Barlow.
